Mountain and Lake Loop Shoreline Enhancements

Erosion from waves, foot traffic, and ice had undercut the shorelines of these popular destinations within Cherry Creek State Park. The Basin Authority stabilized the shoreline by creating a series of beaches protected by rocky points. Park users frequent the points for fishing and taking in the views and enjoy the beaches for picnicking or pulling up a boat to relax. Steps and access paths were constructed to provide focused access to the water and reduce foot-caused bank erosion. Rain gardens were added to absorb the runoff from adjacent parking lots, enhancing water quality in the reservoir.
